The Elevator and Escalator Industry Responds to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) and the International Union of Elevator Contractors (IUEC) recognize that nothing is more important than safety – the safety of the riding public and the safety of all elevator personnel. This steadfast value guides our industry leaders as we face the challenge of responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

NEII member companies and the IUEC have educated our mechanics on ways to mitigate the risk of COVID-19, arming them with the appropriate safety protocols and protective equipment to safely maintain our nation’s elevators and escalators. Building transportation equipment will continue to make life as accessible as possible during this unpredictable time, and we are committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the riding public while conducting this essential work in the safest, most efficient manner possible.

We are deeply grateful for the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are on the front line working to contain this virus. Our industry joins them in this important endeavor, and we will continue to work vigilantly to keep buildings functioning properly during this unprecedented period in history.
