Former Otis Elevator Executive Dot Mynahan Joins NEII as Senior Director of Safety and Workforce
Topeka, KS (September 3, 2024) – The National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII), the premier national trade association providing advocacy, codes, safety expertise, and industry research for the elevator and escalator industry, is proud to announce that Dot Mynahan has joined NEII as Senior Director of Safety and Workforce. In this newly created role, Mynahan will focus on policies and protocols that help prevent rider and worker incidents and injuries, improve safety codes, create comprehensive safety resources, and develop safe workplace best practices.
Throughout her decorated career spanning more than 33 years in the elevator industry, Mynahan has been a prominent figure in field operations, safety and creating an inclusive workforce. Mynahan served in a variety of roles with Otis Elevator Americas, starting as a service clerk in the Portland, Maine office before retiring from Otis last year as its Executive Director of Field Operations where she was responsible for Canada, the U.S., Central America, and South America.
“It is truly an honor to be joining an association I have had a deep amount of respect for during my time in the elevator industry. I have long admired NEII’s extensive advocacy and educational efforts, as well as our shared commitment to recruiting and retaining a talented and diverse workforce,” said Mynahan.
A resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Mynahan co-founded FORWARD, an employee resource group at Otis focused on supporting women in field operations. Since its inception in 2017, FORWARD has grown from 12 original members to more than 500 employees globally. Mynahan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
“I have known Dot for many years and her commitment to safety and inclusion in the elevator industry is second to none,” said Amy Blankenbiller, Executive Director of NEII. “She has been a driving force in the industry for three decades and we are thrilled that she is bringing her passion and expertise to NEII and our valued members.”
In addition to her safety responsibilities, Mynahan will also oversee diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Recently, NEII launched a DEI section on its site that shares information and educational resources designed to help members move forward with their own DEI initiatives.
